About Lucas

Established in 1933, Lucas Metropolitan Housing Authority (LMHA) now Lucas Metropolitan Housing (LMH) continues to provide affordable housing to adults, seniors and children in its Affordable Housing (commonly known as Low Income Public Housing or LIPH), Housing Choice Voucher, Mixed-Income and Market-Rate housing units. LMH also provides a variety of programs and opportunities designed to improve the quality of life for our residents, with the ultimate goal of achieving self-sufficiency.

The programs and services are the result of successful collaborations with numerous community partners. Our current housing portfolio consists of 2,633 Affordable Housing units across 26 distinct communities; 4,685 Housing Choice Vouchers; 322 Low-Income Housing Tax Credit (LIHTC) units; 198 Market Rate units; and, 107 Rent-to-Own properties.

Communities

• Housing Choice Vouchers: LMH's Housing Choice Voucher Program (HCVP) provides 4,685 housing choice vouchers to individuals and families and has attained High Performance Status since 2016.
  
  
• Tax Credit Units: LMH provides 322 Low Income Housing Tax Credit Units.
  
  
• Market Rate Units: LMH provides 198 market rate units to individuals and families.
  
  
• Veteran Affairs Supportive Housing: LMH provides 170 VASH vouchers to individuals and families
  
  
• Rent-to-Own Properties: LMH through its nonprofit affiliate provides 107 rent-to-own properties.

Resident Services

LMH and its local partners provides a number of services to advance self-sufficiency and health outcomes for residents and HCV participants. Services are offered to youth, families, seniors, and people with disabilities. Examples of the services offered to these populations include job training, education, physical fitness, supportive services, and financial coaching.
