Lucas Resident Services Corporation Awarded a Huntington Digital Inclusion Grant

Lucas Resident Services Corporation was awarded a Huntington Digital Inclusion Grant, in the amount of $30,000, to establish the "Parqwood Cyber Café." The cyber cafe will be an onsite 10-station computer lab that will provide residents at Parqwood Apartments with access to new computers, internet service and digital training. Open lab hours will be available and basic computer trainings will be offered.

Training sessions will cover topics such as: Microsoft Word, navigating the internet, and social media - helping residents keep in touch with family and friends. In addition, Huntington will facilitate its cyber security and financial literacy trainings. This exciting initiative will help bridge the digital divide for the senior/disabled population and promotes computer literacy, socialization and access to online resources and opportunities. The new computer lab will allow residents the opportunity to access trainings, create resumes and conduct job searches, access benefits via online portals-such as banking, government programs, retrieve medical lab results, and access local newspapers and library books. When residents learn how to conduct these activities, it will help them increase engagement, expedite services, and stay connected to others.
