Lucas Metropolitan Housing to Open Low Income Public Housing (LIPH) Waitlist in July
Toledo, Ohio, June 22, 2021- Lucas Metropolitan Housing (LMH) announced today that the waitlist for 1-, 2-, 3-, 4- and 5-bedroom public housing units will open on July 26, 2021. The waitlist for housing was closed on February 18, 2020, because there was no inventory available. At that time, there were 2,600 applicants waiting for housing. Of that number, there are approximately 283 applicants who currently remain on the list.
LMH Public Housing consists of multi-family developments, elderly developments, single family homes, duplexes, and townhomes of varying sizes and locations throughout Lucas County, Ohio. The waitlist for 1-, 2-, 3-, 4- and 5-bedroom apartments/homes will be open from Monday, July 26, 2021, at 12:01 a.m. through Friday, July 30, 2021, at 11:59 p.m. Applications received before July 26, 2021, will not be accepted. Applications are available online only, and there is only one application allowed per head of household. No paper applications will be available or accepted.
"Opening the LMH Waitlist will greatly impact people around the county by providing viable and realistic housing opportunities. This will allow individuals and families to come into the LMH housing program and receive stable housing and additional programs to help them become self-sufficient," said Keon Jackson, Vice President of Asset Management.
LMH understands that it will take the efforts of many individuals and organizations working together to address the affordable housing crisis in Lucas County. Through new collaborations with the Toledo Lucas County Homelessness Board and United Way of Greater Toledo, LMH is working with many partners to generate long-term solutions to housing instability in our community.
