Lucas Metropolitan Housing Authority to host the Housing Choice Voucher Program and Community Partnership Symposium

Toledo, Ohio, May 23, 2018 - Lucas Metropolitan Housing Authority (LMHA) is hosting an educational event to help inform the community about the Housing Choice Voucher (HCV) Program. The event will take place on Thursday, May 24, from 6:00 - 8:00 pm at The Summit Event Center. The venue is located at 23 North Summit Street in downtown Toledo.

The goals of the symposium are to engage the community and determine housing needs, to educate the community about the HCV Program and the various opportunities it has to offer, to help LMHA work towards a path of being a great community partner, and to build the credibility of the Housing Choice Voucher Program by re-establishing continuity and transparency about the available programs.

The HCV Program can create opportunities for viable partnerships and affordable housing solutions with funding for:

  • Tenant-based rental assistance
  • Project-based rental assistance
  • Homeownership assistance

Organizations that will benefit from attending the symposium include non-profit organizations, multi-family developers (both non- and for-profit), support service providers, financial institutions and other organizations interested in learning about the HCV program. Particular attention will be directed to multi-family developers and non-profit organizations involved in housing support for their clients.

This informative event will also provide an opportunity for LMHA officials to listen to the community about their particular needs and see how they can be of assistance. LMHA's President and CEO Demetria Simpson will be presenting and leading the discussion. "As an organization, LMHA realizes that we have not done a great job educating the community about the HCV program," stated Simpson. "We are excited to help create partnerships with the community that will establish a strong foundation for providing affordable housing solutions and developing self-sufficiency in our community."

Additional information about these programs can be obtained from LMHA's website: www.lucasmha.org
